Sports Psychology

Traditional sports psychology studies tend to work in a cognitive-behavioral framework. However, the current literature has begun to explore alternative approaches to understand and support the athlete. This course aims to raise awareness about sports psychology. Students will be aware of a new field of psychology through research and practical case studies based on these approaches. The practice of sports psychology mainly focuses on the achievement of the highest performance. Accordingly, the aim of this course is to examine in detail the psychological theories and skills related to peak performance within the framework of the cognitive-behavioral approach.
