Faculty of Architecture and Design / Interior Architecture and Environmental Design

Introduction To The Design Studio

Students are expected to design an art gallery in the designated areas and add additional functions to this design (sales area, library, café, etc.). The course begins with the definition of design and design process, then focuses on human-centered design principles and basic concepts of interior architecture and environmental design. Students analyze the basic requirements required for art gallery design and the user needs of such spaces. Project introduction and user research are conducted; during this process, user profiles are created by considering the needs of gallery visitors and personnel. Basic processes such as definition, research and idea development, which are the stages of the design process, are examined and implemented. Students evaluate the feedback on their projects and improve their designs accordingly. At the end of the course, students prepare their interior space decisions regarding the art gallery design for the final presentation with 1/100 and 1/50 scale technical explanations, perspectives and models. Thus, the general evaluation of the course is carried out.
